The 18th meeting of CAWTAR’s Board of Trustees
Under the chair of HE Mr. Youssef Bassam, the 18th meeting of CAWTAR's Board of Trustees was held on February 7, 2018 in Tunis, with the presence of HE. the Minister of Women Affairs Ms. Neziha Laabidi.
Attendees consisted of permanent members such as : The Arab Gulf Program For Development (AGFUND), the Tunisian Government, the League of Arab States (LAS), The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) as well as representatives from International donor institutions such as GIZ, as observers.
The agenda for the board of trustees included the approval of the Minutes of the last Board of Trustees meeting, a presentation of the center's performance and achievements during 2017, presentation of the Technical Committee meeting report and discussion & approval of 2018 activities and budget in the framework of the center's 2017-2021 strategy.
During the meeting CAWTAR signed three partnership agreements on implementation of new regional projects:
- Partnership agreement with the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) on "Financial Education to Support the Financial Integration of Women and Youth Entrepreneurs".
- Partnership agreement with the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) on "Supporting CAWTAR's institutional organization – CORE"
- Partnership agreement with the Canadian Forum of Federations to implement a regional project on "Empowering women to play leadership roles in the MENA region"
The official launch of CAWTAR's sixth Arab Women Development Report, "Arab Women and the 2030 Plan for Local Media" was also held during the meeting. The report focus on the situation of local media in six Arab countries- Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Lebanon, Egypt and Palestine.
