Gender and Water Resource Management
Gender and Water Resource Management
Despite women’s important role in the water sector as the main users and managers of this resource, they continue to be excluded from the related decision-making and planning processes.
In order to ensure fair and effective water governance, it is vital to incorporate gender dimensions in policies, projects, and programs relating to water management.
Such a holistic approach to water governance can lead to greater efficiency of policies and programs, more equitable access and management of water resources, and economic development and environmental sustainability.
Different projects and components of projects are being implemented to achieve a better gender sensitive governance of water management.
